Terms of Service
These terms describe how you may use Perch & Feed. By visiting the site, you agree to them.
Effective date: 2026-05-11 Last reviewed: 2026-05-11
Editorial site, not professional advice
Perch & Feed is an editorial publication. It is not a substitute for professional ornithology consultation, wildlife rehabilitation, or veterinary care for injured birds. Specifically:
- Articles cite authoritative sources (Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Audubon, peer-reviewed journals), but the editors are not credentialed ornithologists.
- For bird identification, we point you to the Merlin Bird ID app from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which is more accurate than any text-based site could ever be.
- For injured or orphaned birds, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Search the Animal Help Now directory for one in your area.
- For disease outbreaks (avian flu, salmonellosis), follow guidance from your state wildlife agency and the USDA APHIS.
Recommendations on this site are general and may not apply to your specific bird, region, season, or yard situation. Use judgment.
Affiliate links and product recommendations
This site contains affiliate links. See our affiliate disclosure for the full detail. The short version: when you click certain links and buy products, we may earn a commission, at no additional cost to you. We only recommend products we have used, tested, or vetted against authoritative sources.
We do not guarantee that any specific product will attract specific birds, last a specific length of time, or meet your specific needs. Outdoor gear has variable lifespans depending on weather, region, wildlife interference, and use frequency.
Bird welfare
Perch & Feed exists because we care about backyard birds. We will not knowingly publish content that:
- Recommends practices shown to harm or kill wild birds (unclean feeders during disease outbreaks, attractants that increase window strikes, etc.)
- Encourages illegal collection or possession of native bird species (which is regulated under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act and various state laws)
- Recommends bird-killing methods marketed as “humane”
If you spot content on the site that you believe is unsafe for birds, email hello@perchandfeed.com and we will review it within seven days.
